Runways
Every runway on the field, in the detail that decides whether you can use it:
- Designator, length and width
- Surface
- PCN, so pavement strength is a fact rather than a phone call
- Field elevation, and whether it is IFR or VFR only
Getting in and out
The constraints that change the plan rather than the invoice:
- Prior permission required, with the notes that go with it
- Whether handling is mandatory or you may self-handle
- Opening windows in local time, or open 24 hours
- ATC status, and what traffic the field accepts
- Customs and immigration — full, limited or none
- The country’s own aviation guidelines and advisories
Fuel and fire cover
Two answers that are awkward to get at short notice:
- What fuel is actually on the field
- Published fuel prices, where the FBO has given them
- ICAO fire category, and any extension available on request
Security, rated rather than guessed
Threat assessment for the airport, the city and the country, each on a five-step scale:
- Airport security and the regulatory picture
- The ground corridor — the drive between field and hotel, which is where crew are actually exposed

Weather and Notams
